Shuhua Discusses Her Inexperience with Dating and Ineligibility for ‘EXchange’

Shuhua from (G)I-DLE recently shared her thoughts on dating reality shows during the premiere of a new web variety series, revealing a funny side about her love life—specifically, that she’s never actually dated anyone before.

On July 3, the first episode of ‘What Do We Do Now’ (어떡행) dropped on the TTT YouTube channel, featuring Shuhua paired with Yoo Yeon from tripleS. The show’s concept is travel-themed, and the two stars’ contrasting personalities—Shuhua’s spontaneous, carefree vibe vs. Yoo Yeon’s structured approach—set the stage for plenty of fun moments.

As they kicked off the episode, their trip planning soon led them to searching for places to stay in Jeju Island. At one point, Yoo Yeon pointed out a cozy guesthouse that had appeared on the well-known dating show ‘EXchange’ (환승연애), sparking a playful conversation about reality romance programs.

When Shuhua asked Yoo Yeon,
"Do you want to go on that show?"
Yoo Yeon quickly fired back.
"Could you go on it?"
With a laugh, Shuhua admitted her inexperience with dating:
"I can’t. I’ve never dated in my life."
The honesty got a good chuckle from everyone on set.

Curious about what kind of dating program might suit her, Shuhua asked Yoo Yeon for suggestions. Yoo Yeon recommended ‘Heart Signal’, known for its subtle romantic build-up. Shuhua’s response was immediate and clear:
"No way. I can’t handle that kind of romantic buildup. I’m not good at flirting."

The conversation didn’t stop there. When the topic shifted to the more straightforward dating show ‘Single’s Inferno’ (솔로지옥), Shuhua showed genuine interest. She said,
"I’d be down for that, as long as they film the next season indoors—somewhere I won’t get sunburned."
She then encouraged Yoo Yeon to join her in giving the show a shot:
"You should be on it too."
However, Yoo Yeon politely declined,
"No thanks. I’m definitely more of a ‘Heart Signal’ person."
