SM Entertainment Acquires 2nd Largest Stake in Great M Entertainment, Parent Company of 82MAJOR

In a strategic move to expand its influence in the K-Pop industry, SM Entertainment is set to acquire a significant stake in Great M Entertainment, the agency behind the rising boy group 82MAJOR. This partnership represents a critical step in SM’s ‘SM 3.0’ strategy, which aims to establish a multi-label system that fosters a network of independent production centers for the ongoing development of intellectual property.
Founded in March 2020 by former FNC Entertainment director Kim Young Sun, Great M Entertainment has quickly made a name for itself. The agency debuted 82MAJOR in October 2023, and the group has since captured global attention with their distinct style and music. Their latest release, the mini-album Silence Syndrome, dropped in April and has showcased their evolving sound.
Exciting times lie ahead for 82MAJOR as they prepare for their upcoming solo concert, 82 Syndrome, taking place in Seoul from June 6-8. This will be followed by their first-ever North American tour, scheduled from June through July, promising to bring their energetic performances to fans across the continent.
Looking forward, SM Entertainment isn’t just stopping at Great M. The company has plans to invest in various domestic and international labels, aiming to diversify its music offerings and expand its reach in the dynamic world of K-Pop.
