SM Entertainment Faces Backlash Over Fan Gifts Valued at Only Two Cents

SM Entertainment is facing controversy after NCT Wish’s recent fanmeeting. Fans got a cheap pearl ring as a doorgift — and it’s causing a stir.
The fanmeeting had a luxe “prince” theme. Members looked like royalty straight out of a manhwa. Fans loved the styling and visuals at first.
But the doorgift quickly caught negative attention. A small pearl ring was handed out to every attendee.
Fans found the exact same ring on Chinese online stores selling for about ₩40 KRW — just 3 cents USD.
Comparison shots of the ring went viral on social media and forums.

Korean fans called the situation “really sad” because the lavish theme clashed with the ultra-cheap ring.

Others joked that maybe the entire budget went into the ring box instead.

Some fans said the gift should have matched the event’s premium image and ticket price — even suggesting candy would’ve been better.

The ring controversy is now a hot topic online, spreading beyond the concert crowd.

Fans are still buzzing about the big concept vs. tiny gift gap at this fanmeeting.
