Super Junior’s Leeteuk Suggests Hearts2Hearts Might Be Like His Daughters
Super Junior‘s Leeteuk recently opened up about the huge age gap between him and the youngest group under SM Entertainment, Hearts2Hearts, during an appearance on this week’s episode of Se Ho’s Entertainment Weekly. The conversation started when Leeteuk was asked how he prefers his hoobaes in the industry to address him.
Leeteuk answered,
"I feel like the word ‘sunbaenim’ draws a line between me and them."
He then shared a funny story from a recent encounter with Hearts2Hearts, whose youngest member was born in 2010. During a show in Mexico, they greeted him with a respectful "sunbaenim," but Leeteuk couldn’t help but feel a bit awkward.
"The youngest member of Hearts2Hearts, who recently debuted, was born in 2010. We recently went to do a show in Mexico and saw them there. They greeted us saying, ‘sunbaenim!’ But I felt like they could be my daughters."
The age difference caught the attention of fellow Super Junior member Kyuhyun, who pointed out,
"Because she is 27-years younger than you."
Leeteuk agreed, adding,
"It’s possible that her parents are around my age."
Kyuhyun playfully chimed in,
"No, the parents might be younger than you."
Wrapping up the topic with humor, Leeteuk concluded,
"So it might be best if the hoobaes just didn’t call me anything (laughter)."
This lighthearted moment highlighted the generational gap between the veteran idol and the newest rookies in SM’s lineup, and showed Leeteuk’s down-to-earth personality as he navigates the changing dynamics in K-pop’s evolving landscape. Fans also enjoyed seeing the playful banter between Leeteuk and Kyuhyun, which added to the warmth of the exchange.
