TWICE Dahyun’s K-Drama Co-Star Shares Thoughts on Her Performance

Lee Si Woo opened up about working with TWICE’s Dahyun in JTBC’s drama Love Me.
The actor praised Dahyun’s acting chops and chemistry on set. He said he didn’t see her as an idol, but fully as her character, Hye On.
Lee Si Woo explained their relationship was unique since their characters were childhood friends for 20 years. This made acting together feel natural and comfortable. Dahyun even suggested they speak casually on set to build ease between them.
“Hye On and Jun Seo are childhood friends of 20 years, so their relationship was different from a typical romance. From the start of the drama, it was important that we felt comfortable with each other, and that was our main task. She suggested early on that we speak casually to each other, which helped us relax, and we were able to try new approaches in our acting.”
“Even in scenes where we’re eating, we tried to show that comfort, like casually pulling out a tissue and tossing it to the other person, or naturally opening the fridge when we’re visiting each other’s homes. The name ‘TWICE’ is huge, of course, but since we met through Love Me, I didn’t see her as an ‘idol-turned-actor.’ I saw her purely as the character.”

The actor also praised Dahyun’s fearless attitude and preparation for the role. He said she had prepared multiple acting choices and came to set ready to take on challenges. This made filming fun for him.
“There were many moments that surprised me. Her eyes are especially expressive when she acts, and she didn’t seem afraid of taking on challenges. She came to set having prepared a variety of acting choices, which made filming even more enjoyable for me.”

Love Me wrapped after 12 episodes with modest ratings around 1%. But for Dahyun, the drama marked a solid start for her acting career.
