TWICE’s Sana Inquires About BTS’s J-Hope’s Ideal Partner
BTS’s J-Hope shared interesting insights about his ideal type during a recent appearance on the YouTube channel 117’s show, Sana’s Fridge Interview, on June 19.
When J-Hope was asked why he came on the show, he kept it simple and funny:
"To promote my new song," J-Hope said coolly, causing laughter around the studio.
However, the real headline moment came when host Sana posed the signature question of the show, “What’s your ideal type?” J-Hope was a bit taken aback at first but soon opened up about his preferences.
"I haven’t been asked that in 10 years," J-Hope admitted.
"But I do have a clear answer. It has to be someone different from me."
He explained that, while not completely opposite in every way, he’s drawn to people who see things differently than he does, especially when it comes to personality and values.
"Personality-wise, values…I mean, of course, we can’t be different in every single way. But I think I prefer people who think differently from me."
J-Hope gave the example of a pear drink, where he assumes it contains pear, but he gets excited when someone interprets it from a totally different angle.
"I feel a spark when someone has a different perspective from mine."
"For example, if there’s a pear drink, I’d naturally assume it contains pear. But when someone approaches it from a completely different angle, that difference in thinking excites me."
When the conversation shifted to physical traits, J-Hope didn’t offer a clear-cut answer but revealed a quirky detail about the kind of looks he’s liked in the past.
"As for looks, I’m not really sure."
"I used to like people with a salamander-like appearance."
Sana looked a bit puzzled, and after some clarification, J-Hope confirmed he meant something softer, like an axolotl.
"Kind of small… It’s not super defined or sharp-looking."
"Rather than someone with very sharp features, I like someone with a soft, tofu-like impression."
J-Hope’s interview comes at an exciting time for BTS fans. Five of the seven members have now completed their military service. RM and V returned just 10 days ago, while Jimin and Jungkook finished their duty on June 11. SUGA is due to be discharged on June 21. Jin and J-Hope returned earlier, in June and October of last year, respectively. With all members returning soon, the hype for BTS’s full-group comeback in the second half of 2025 is enormous.
