Young BTS Suga Showed Courage by Boldly Writing a Love Letter to His Then-Girlfriend

BTS’s Suga opened up about a middle school love story in a letter to a local radio show—and fans are loving his honesty.

The story started when young Suga, then Min Yoon Gi, wrote a letter for a Korean language class assignment. He sent it to a radio host he’d been listening to, sharing his shy first crush and awkward first relationship.

He recalls falling for a girl in 2nd year of middle school. Too shy to chat properly, they stayed friends at first. Later, he confessed his feelings—and she said yes.

But the relationship got weird. Suga says being shy made him act unnatural around her. He didn’t pay her enough attention, and their relationship quickly fell apart. They broke up, which left him feeling empty and hurt.

Suga admits he learned from the experience. He wishes he had acted differently and treated her better.

He even apologized in the letter, saying:

“I am very sorry for treating you that way. You must’ve felt so hurt when I behaved like that. I personally think back and look at it as a good memory now.
Thank you for making that memory with me.”
