Jin Shares That BTS Members Decline Majority of Advertisement Proposals

On July 22, BTS‘s Jin sparked a lively online conversation after responding to a fan on Weverse about his recent advertising activities. The topic came up when a fan noticed Jin seemed to be appearing in more ads compared to the other BTS members and asked about it. Jin, known for being straightforward and honest, gave a surprisingly open reply about the situation:

"Ah… It’s just that I did a lot of them. The other members have dozens, even hundreds, of ad offers too. They’re just choosing not to do them. I’ve turned down more than a few dozen myself… I think I won’t be taking on any more for now since I want to focus on the current one. (But if something suddenly comes along that I really like, I might change my mind.)" Jin

This comment came right after Jin was revealed as the new model for Dongwon Tuna, highlighting that although he’s been more visible in commercials recently, the other BTS members also have plenty of offers — they’re just picking and choosing more carefully.

As Jin’s reply started making rounds on Korean online communities, fans and netizens quickly shared their thoughts on the matter. Here are some of the reactions:

"Why not…? Please do more ads, I’m begging you."

"So it’s just that the offers don’t match them?"

"I really want to know which brands made offers."

"If we find out which brands made offers, people are going to start listing who rejected what. Yikes."

"Aren’t they preparing for a group album? I guess they’ll take care of things in their own way."

"Jin just got discharged. Others will probably follow gradually."

"It seems like they’re being selective with which ad they do. I think that’s better than doing everything."

"Better to film ads while the offers are coming in. What if they stop coming?"

"They’re billionaires anyway."

"I don’t think the ad offers would stop any time soon."

"I just wish they’d be more active individually."

"Celebrities usually filter offers as they get bigger. Not every ad is worth doing."

"We don’t need to worry about celebrities’ lives."

"He literally said they’ll do an ad if they find something they like. Why are people so pressed?"

"They’re doing a good job being selective with their campaigns."

"They can’t be doing all the ad offers."

Fans seem to be split between wanting the members to take on more projects individually and understanding the need for the group to stay selective, especially with their busy schedules and potential group comebacks on the horizon. Jin’s transparency helped clarify that the current perception of him being more active in advertisements isn’t because others aren’t getting offers—it’s a matter of personal choice and timing.

This insight into BTS’s advertising decisions adds a layer of understanding to their professional strategies, especially as Jin recently completed his military service. It also shows a practical side to their careers that fans don’t always get to see.
