As news about the atrocities in Sudan spread, fans flooded eaJ’s social media asking him to speak on Sudan too. eaJ responded directly, saying he is learning and posting more about Sudan lately. He also pointed out that many comments came from BTS fan accounts and suggested fans urge their idols to speak up.

I am learning and posting more about Sudan as of late! It does disappoint me a tiny bit seeing the profile pictures though :/ i really think we can make the world a better place if you commented on their posts as well! Let’s make the world a better place

eaJ said K-Pop contracts don’t legally stop artists from speaking out. He added any contract restricting freedom of speech would be illegal in South Korea.

Also to be transparent, as far as I am aware, restricting freedom of speech in a a working environment is illegal in South Korea, or at least that’s what I was told by one of the team execs during my residency. Could have changed but I doubt it :/

He stressed it’s a personal choice for idols to speak up or not.

That has literally nothing to do with what is allowed to be said and not. At this point, it is a choice. They have the right to their own choices but wanted to point out from my experience of 12 years in the kpop industry that you can say whatever you want to say legally and…

Fans thanked eaJ for his honesty and some started calling out their favorite idols for staying silent.

i think this context is very interesting when you think about how many idols have been called out for supporting brands that are on the boycott list (especially when the news first started ramping up about palestine) and everyone just stayed silent and didn’t defend themselves

as an avid bts fan since 2015, i can say that they do not deserve any defending from anyone. “the pressure from blah blah blah” they made hybe. not only that but fuma from &team came out and talked about palestine directly. who do you think faces more pressure? bts does not care.

@GirlsGeneration @aespa_official @sychoiofficial @TAEYEONsmtown @tiffanyyoung @Sunnyday515 @Hyoyeon_djhyo @sjhsjh0628 I’m still hoping y’all say something

Only a few idols, like eaJ, have openly supported Palestine so far. Many fans want more K-Pop stars to use their platforms on these issues.
