Min Hee Jin Accused Of “Betraying” NewJeans After Outsmarting Them

Min Hee Jin scores huge legal win against HYBE, but NewJeans fans are split.

On February 12, KST, Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of Min Hee Jin in her lawsuit against HYBE. The court confirmed the termination of the shareholder agreement and threw out all of HYBE’s claims. Min Hee Jin’s put option exercise was deemed legitimate.

HYBE must pay Min Hee Jin ₩25.5 billion KRW (about $17.6 million USD).

The controversy began as fans debated whether NewJeans supporters should celebrate.

Some argued Min Hee Jin was the only winner here. NewJeans, caught in the middle, continue under ADOR’s control with little change.

Others jumped in defending Min Hee Jin, noting the legal protections she had as an employee, which idols like NewJeans lack.

the real difference is Min Heejin was an EMPLOYEE so she was protected by the labor rights law, meanwhile NewJeans technically aren’t considered as ones. This is why we need a new law that protects idol rights in contract dispute.
