Lee Soo Man’s New Girl Group A20 MAY Displays Friendship with Girls’ Generation’s Sunny

A2O MAY, the girl group under the wing of legendary K-pop producer and SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man, recently gave fans a sweet look at their bond with senior artist Girls’ Generation’s Sunny. On June 6, the group shared a Reels video on their official Instagram page that featured Sunny alongside them in Los Angeles. The clip showed the members—Chenyu, Shijie, Quchang, Miche, and Kat—holding roses and sending hand kisses to the camera, appearing one after another after Sunny and creating a warm and friendly vibe that fans couldn’t help but smile at.

Sunny shared the same video on her social media that day, highlighting the close connection she has with A2O MAY. Their relationship stands out as a nice example of a genuine senior-junior friendship in the competitive K-pop world, and A2O MAY continues earning attention for connecting with fans around the globe through thoughtful and varied content.

This isn’t the first time Sunny and A2O MAY have been seen together. The group and Sunny previously attended the premiere of Lee Soo Man: King of K-Pop, a documentary spotlighting the producer and A2O Entertainment’s leader. They also participated side-by-side in a long-running tree-planting event organized by Lee Soo Man, showing their support for his vision and values.

After leaving SM Entertainment in August 2023—where she spent her trainee years—Sunny officially joined Lee Soo Man’s newly launched A2O Entertainment. Since then, she’s been heavily involved in production training under producer Yoo Young Jin’s guidance.

Sunny works not only to hone her production skills but also plays an active role in shaping the company’s training programs for new artists. She supports trainees psychologically, helps produce video content, and even contributes to styling and choreography direction, making her a key part of the company beyond just the stage.

A2O MAY debuted officially in December 2024 and has been making waves internationally with their debut track “Under My Skin” and follow-up single “Boss.” They made history as the first Chinese girl group to perform at the prominent U.S. music festival 102.7 KIIS FM Wango Tango. Their single “Boss” broke into the Top 10 on China’s QQ Music Hot Song chart, and impressively, both of their singles have appeared simultaneously on the U.S. Mediabase radio chart, showing their growing presence outside Asia.

Sunny’s expanding role and the rising success of A2O MAY seem tightly connected to Lee Soo Man’s ongoing influence and fresh approach to artist development at A2O Entertainment, signaling a new chapter in K-pop’s global story.
