“KPop Demon Hunters” Star Faces Backlash Over BLACKPINK’s Controversial Album

EJAE is facing controversy over her work on BLACKPINK’s latest album.
The singer and songwriter, known as the voice of Rumi in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, is credited as a composer on BLACKPINK’s new track “Champion.” The problem? The song also lists Dr. Luke as a credited producer.
Dr. Luke has been a divisive figure due to a long legal battle with singer Kesha, who accused him of sexual assault and abuse in 2014—a case he has denied. The lawsuits were settled in 2023. BLACKPINK already took heat for working with him. Now, EJAE is caught in the middle.
Fans quickly noticed EJAE’s name in the credits and started calling her out.

Some fans have argued EJAE may not have collaborated with Dr. Luke directly, citing her past comments about avoiding studio sessions to protect her melodies.
>EJAE has always said in her interviews that she doesn’t like doing sessions on studios because she doesn’t want her melodies to get influenced by someone else’s while making a song. I don’t think she directly cooperated/collaborated with Dr. Luke in making this song at all. https://t.co/C5xPsux6Jt
