HYBE Boy Group Member Criticizes Management Over Controversial Debut Personality

TXT’s Beomgyu reveals strict “prince” image restrictions during debut, sparking fan backlash

TXT member Beomgyu is facing backlash after revealing that the group was forced to stick to a strict “prince”-like image during their debut days, imposed by their label, BIGHIT MUSIC.

The controversy began when Beomgyu appeared on MBC’s variety show Radio Star and opened up about TXT’s carefully controlled debut persona. He explained that the members were told to avoid aegyo (acting cute) and maintain a reserved, princely image even during variety show appearances.

Beomgyu said this strict image made fans view TXT as a “boring” group. He recalled one TV appearance where he tried to show his cute and funny side but was reprimanded by management. Even when he sneaked in humorous moments, those scenes were cut during editing.

Despite the backlash to this approach, BIGHIT stuck to the rule until TXT started doing livestreams. Beomgyu revealed the members defied the label by showing their true personalities live, which couldn’t be edited out. Eventually, BIGHIT relented, allowing fans to see the real TXT.

Fans quickly reacted online, calling the restrictions absurd and questioning BIGHIT’s logic in pushing a “prince” image that didn’t fit TXT’s youthful, cute debut style.

“i seriously have no idea what the fuck was bighit expecting them to do when they handed txt this concept . ‘dont act cute’ ???? their debut itself is the embodiment of cute and youthful ” — @5poohs

“you can tell from the way they edited the early to do episodes too they wouldn’t let them be funny at all their marketing team was clueless from day one” — @lpsoob

“Still don’t understand, how bighit push the prince image agenda for txt, but dressed them like a losers Is the prince image in the same room with us???” — @strangers304

As the situation unfolded, fans shared screenshots and clips highlighting how TXT’s early content was heavily edited to fit the label’s image demands.
