Netflix Drama “The WONDERfools” Director Responds to ASTRO Cha Eunwoo’s Tax Evasion Controversy

Cha Eunwoo is facing controversy amid tax evasion allegations.
The issue broke as the production press conference for Netflix’s The WONDERfools kicked off on June 12 at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul.
The series stars Park Eun Bin and others, with director Yoo In Sik in attendance. Cha Eunwoo, currently serving in the military, was mentioned in relation to the tax scandal involving hundreds of billions won.
Director Yoo In Sik said the team only learned about the controversy after editing and post-production were finished.
“We became aware of the issue after the editing and post-production were already completed,” Yoo In Sik said.
“This project was my dream, and everyone worked hard for every second. We prioritized the overall completeness while editing and working on post-production.”
He then added,
“Since this is a personal issue concerning the actor, I kindly ask for your understanding regarding my comments.”
Park Eun Bin spoke on the chemistry between cast members, including Cha Eunwoo:
“From the beginning of preparing this project, the director emphasized the importance of team chemistry. Everyone kept that in mind the most. We will soon be able to see the result created from everyone’s best efforts.”
The WONDERfools is set to release on Netflix on June 15.
