Yoo Jae Suk Responds to Personal Network Casting Controversy Again

Yoo Jae Suk faces backlash over casting controversy linked to personal connections.
The controversy began when the YouTube channel DdeunDdeun posted a video on the 11th featuring BOYNEXTDOOR members Jaehyun, Taesan, and Woonhak. In the video, the members revealed they grew up watching MBC variety show Infinite Challenge, starring Yoo Jae Suk, and openly expressed their admiration for him.
Jaehyun, a big fan, shared his wish to work with Yoo Jae Suk. Yoo responded, “That day will come,” but also admitted his limits in casting:
“Honestly, I’m also always in the position of being chosen by someone, so I can’t guarantee Jaehyun, Woonhak, or Taesan can be picked. But I can recommend them.”
He added:
“In reality, the pick is made by the production team. I can recommend up to the door, but it’s up to you to decide to open it,” indirectly addressing the controversy.
Fans quickly linked this to the ongoing “Yoo-line” casting controversy. Yoo Jae Suk has been criticized for repeatedly appearing with familiar members or juniors he helped develop, who then show up as guests on his projects, including the recent Netflix variety show Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!.
Actors Lee Kwang Soo and Ji Ye Eun, frequent collaborators with Yoo, also appeared on Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!, which fueled the backlash further. Despite this, Yoo has consistently stated that casting decisions are made by the production team and that he only offers recommendations to improve the show’s quality.
