BLACKPINK Producer Teddy Allegedly Developing New Co-Ed Group
The Black Label, the label led by Teddy—best known as BLACKPINK’s producer—is gearing up to launch a co-ed group, according to an exclusive report dated June 6 KST. This move marks a notable attempt to revive a format that hasn’t been very active in the K-pop scene for over a decade.
Back in the 1990s through the early 2000s, co-ed groups enjoyed some popularity during K-pop’s 1st generation. But since then, particularly after the 2010s, few co-ed groups have made a lasting impact. One exception is KARD, which made waves after debuting in 2017 under DSP Media. Now, Teddy and The Black Label team seem set to bring co-ed groups back into the spotlight with their latest project.
The Black Label already manages some big names: Taeyang from Big Bang, Rosé of BLACKPINK (for her activities in Korea), as well as solo artists Jeon So Mi and MEOVV. With such prominent artists under their wing, the label’s new co-ed group could be a pretty exciting addition to their roster and the overall K-pop landscape.
