Famous Yet Divisive Actor Discusses His Various Controversies

Choi Hyun Wook faces backlash over past personal controversies as Netflix’s Notes from the Last Row hits global screens
The controversy began with reports of Choi Hyun Wook’s private life issues, including littering cigarette butts and inappropriate posts on social media. Last year, during filming, he was also caught up in a pitching controversy and issued a public apology.
Soon after the Netflix series Notes from the Last Row dropped on June 26, available in over 190 countries, Choi addressed these issues openly.
The actor sat down for an interview on July 2 at a cafe in Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, reflecting on his mistakes and growth.
“After finishing filming last year and the project was released, I think I have made a lot of progress in those respects. I am trying to move forward in life with a mature attitude both as an actor and as a person. I have reflected deeply, and by working with good people and meeting responsible seniors during filming, I want to provide viewers with immersive experiences through my work going forward without any such incidents,” Choi said.
He continued:
“I always keep such caution in mind, and because my love for this work grows and I feel more responsible, I want to continue in this field for a long time. I think this mindset is natural. Regarding these matters, I want to work hard to become a good actor and a good person. I sincerely have these feelings.”
