Kim Soo Hyun gains legal win as CEO of controversial YouTube channel detained
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency Gold Medalist confirmed that Kim Se Ui, CEO of the YouTube channel Garoseuro Institute, was officially detained and transferred to prosecution.
The police found Kim Se Ui guilty of multiple charges including defamation by spreading false info under the Information and Communications Network Act, stalking, sexual violence (distribution of recorded material via camera), attempted coercion, and threats.
Gold Medalist released a statement on the 5th:
“We inform you of the results of the police investigation into several complaints and charges filed by Kim Soo Hyun and our agency against Kim Se Ui of Garoseuro Institute.”
“Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police transferred Kim Se Ui to the prosecution under detention.”
The controversy began with allegations that Kim Soo Hyun dated the late Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor. Police confirmed possible manipulation of KakaoTalk messages and audio recordings using AI tech during the investigation.
Kim Se Ui was detained on May 26 over evidence tampering. A detention review request was denied by the court, stating:
“There is no reason for the request.”
As the situation develops, investigations into other suspects connected to the case are still ongoing.
