NewJeans’ Parents Speak Out Against HYBE, Create Instagram Page to Explain the Truth
The ongoing dispute between music entertainment companies, HYBE and ADOR, over K-pop girl group NewJeans, has taken a fresh twist, as the parents of the group members have launched a social media account to address their concerns. The parents of group members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have taken this step to counteract what they perceive as misinformation about the conflict.

A newly-created Instagram account (@jeanz_pr), reportedly operated by the parents, aims to provide their point of view on the ongoing feud between HYBE and ADOR.
The parents issued their initial statement on the platform, outlining the reasons behind the creation of the account. They stated, “This account is temporarily operational, set up to represent our stance in the conflict with HYBE. As there was no official channel to voice our opinion, we attempted to conduct interviews through various media outlets and to convey an accurate relationship through reporters we came to know.”
The parents claimed that though some media outlets accepted their perspective, they were few in number. They also faced difficulties in ensuring their position was accurately represented, citing instances of their words being distorted or negatively portrayed.

They added, “Regrettably, ahead of the lawsuit, HYBE and ADOR are again reporting false articles targeting its members. We created this account as a response. We understand that many are tired of the long conflict. However, please understand that this account will be delivering content that members may find challenging to communicate directly.”
The rift between NewJeans and their agency ADOR began when the group attempted to terminate their contract, citing ADOR’s failure to fulfill their demands. ADOR responded by filing a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to enforce the group’s exclusive contracts.
NewJeans, however, has made it clear that they will not return to ADOR or HYBE. They have already appointed a top law firm to handle their legal proceedings. The group even considered changing their name and held a contest asking fans for suggestions. ADOR quickly intervened, warning that a name change could lead to significant legal consequences.
The new social media account is an unprecedented move in the K-pop industry, reflecting the complex and high-stakes legal battle between NewJeans, HYBE, and ADOR. The parents’ decision to publicly address the dispute underscores their commitment to supporting their children’s fight for fair treatment in the industry. This move could potentially pave the way for more open conversations about artist-agency conflicts in the future, reshaping the landscape of the K-pop industry.
