Paul Kim Shares Amusing Mistaken Identity Incident Involving BTS’s V at a Hotel

Paul Kim had the Knowing Bros cast cracking up with a story about a travel mix-up — one that involved none other than BTS’s V.

The singer appeared on the July 26 episode of JTBC’s ‘Knowing Bros’ (Episode 492) alongside fellow guests Tim, ZO ZAZZ, and Kang Daniel as “transfer students” to the show’s fictional classroom. During the episode, Paul opened up about how he ended up using the stage name Paul Kim instead of his real name.
“Paul is actually my baptismal name,” he said. “All my friends called me Paul when I studied abroad as a kid, so I naturally went with it.”

That explanation prompted Shindong to crack a joke:
“Things might have been awkward if you had gone with Kim Tae Hyung.”

Turns out, Paul had the perfect story to go along with that. He shared an encounter that happened while he was traveling recently — and it all started with a case of mistaken identity.
“Not long ago, I went on a trip to Prague,” he said. “At the hotel lobby during check-in, a male staff member kept glancing at me and smiling. I thought, ‘Huh? Am I kind of famous in Europe?’ After I finished checking in, he asked if I was a singer. I thought, ‘Here we go,’ and said, ‘Yes, I’m a singer from Korea.’ Then he asked, ‘Which group are you in?’”

At that point, things took a funny turn.
“When I told him I was a solo artist, he asked, ‘Aren’t you in BTS?’ That’s when I realized he mistook me for V because we share the same real name, Kim Tae Hyung. I told him, ‘V doesn’t stay at hotels like this,’”

The cast burst out laughing at the punchline. But when they teased him about dissing the hotel, Paul made sure to explain what he meant.
“I just meant that if V had really come, it would have caused chaos!”

The story added a playful moment to the episode, showing off Paul Kim’s humor — and the unexpected perks (or confusion) that can come from sharing a name with a global superstar.
