Lee Je Hoon Opens Up About Signal’s Future Amid Jo Jin Woong Controversy

Lee Je Hoon is facing fallout from Jo Jin Woong’s controversy.

Jo Jin Woong decided to retire after a past controversy. This move has put tvN’s upcoming drama Second Signal—which Lee Je Hoon recently finished filming—in a tough spot. Its release now seems uncertain.

On June 19, during an end-of-series interview for Taxi Driver 3 in Seoul, Lee opened up about the situation and how it’s affecting him.

Regarding caution in daily life playing his role in Taxi Driver, Lee said:

“If someone sets out to deceive another, anyone on the receiving end would inevitably fall victim. I believe what’s important is the values and life perspective one holds. Society is rapidly changing these days with many incidents and accidents happening, so I constantly reflect on how I look toward and live in the future.”

Lee added:

“Rather than feeling I must be cautious, I think I have, since I was young, been instinctively and consciously thinking and feeling about good and evil and right and wrong through education, reading, and media exposure. I haven’t felt the need to change that, but as things unfold, I think it’s natural for me, as someone in the entertainment field, to be mindful.”

When asked if the cast talked about avoiding scandals, Lee said that never happened.

“We’ve never had that kind of conversation. That’s common sense for people living in the world, so I don’t think we’ve specifically talked about being cautious or conscious of it.”

But he did express concerns about how one actor’s controversy can damage a whole project:

“I do worry about parts where the interpretation and value of the efforts behind the work might be diminished because of that. Each project contains the sincerity of many people’s hard work, and I hope that sincerity isn’t erased or faded.”

The controversy began with Jo Jin Woong and quickly affected the future of Second Signal. Lee Je Hoon is monitoring the situation closely.
