Fans Demand Song Ji Hyo’s Departure From “Running Man”

Song Ji Hyo is facing heavy backlash over her tiny screen time on this week’s Running Man.
The controversy started with the episode aired on the 8th, where Song Ji Hyo’s solo screen time was a shocking 10 seconds. Out of a full 90-minute broadcast, she mostly showed up in reaction shots or group scenes. Fans slammed her for not stepping up as a lead member.
Soon after the episode, online communities and her social media blew up with calls for her to quit the show and questions about her professionalism as a fixed cast member.
This isn’t new. In 2023, Song Ji Hyo already faced heat for her passive participation. Then, Yoo Jae Seok, a Running Man staple, defended her and said:
“Ji Hyo feels upset about her performance and tries hard. I encouraged her not to worry too much and just work harder next week.”
Song Ji Hyo has been with Running Man for 16 years since 2010. In 2016, she almost got cut but came back strong thanks to fan support.
Recently, she made a YouTube video clearly stating she won’t leave the show herself:
“I won’t quit on my own unless the producers decide to end the show.”
Despite her words, the recurring screen time drama has fans losing patience. Whether she can bounce back and reclaim her spot as the show’s “ace” is still up in the air.
The spotlight’s on Song Ji Hyo’s next moves.
