Legendary K-Drama Dad Clearly Identifies His Perfect Daughter-In-Law
Sung Dong Il is facing buzz over a 2015 comment about his future daughter-in-law.
The veteran actor once said he’s been “preparing his heart” for actress Kim You Jung to marry his son, Sung Joon.
The controversy began during an MBC interview on Section TV Entertainment News. Sung Dong Il appeared with Kim You Jung and shocked viewers by revealing a longtime crush on her.
He first met Kim You Jung on the set of New Heart in 2007. From there, Sung Dong Il decided she would be his son’s bride.

He also told Kim You Jung he would raise his son well and asked her to wait for him.

At the time of the interview, Kim You Jung was 14 and Sung Joon was around 8. Now, she’s 26 and Sung Joon is 19 — a clear age gap but Sung Dong Il’s feelings seem genuine.
The actor’s playful comment still gets attention for how he openly claimed Kim You Jung as his future daughter-in-law years before.
