BLACKPINK Lisa Faces Backlash Over World Cup Performance

Lisa is facing backlash after her performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.

On June 12, Lisa took the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, performing “Goals” alongside Brazilian singer Anitta and Nigerian artist Rema. The song is part of the tournament’s official album. Lisa opened the show in a white outfit, delivering live vocals with dozens of dancers across the stadium field.

This marked the first time a K-Pop girl group member performed live at a World Cup opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter EJAE performed the official World Cup theme song “DNA” with world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli at a separate event in Mexico City. EJAE’s version included Korean lyrics she helped write, drawing significant attention.

Fans quickly reacted to Lisa’s appearance, but Korean netizens were mostly critical.

“What exactly do they mean by saying she ‘tore up’ the stage? Did she tear up the carpet or something? Andrea Bocelli and EJAE’s performance of ‘DNA’ was the best.”
