ENHYPEN’s Jungwon Accused of Undermining Heeseung’s (EVAN) Solo Career, Sparking Controversy

Heeseung (EVAN) Faces Backlash After ENHYPEN Departure Sparks Debate
Heeseung (also known as EVAN) left ENHYPEN earlier this year, stirring mixed reactions among fans. Some believe he was forced out, while others say it was his own decision and criticize him for leaving.
The controversy began when Heeseung’s recent updates confirmed his departure from ENHYPEN is permanent.
Since then, fans have been divided, with protests from some who want him back and criticism from others who blame him for the split.
The situation heated up again on May 29, when fellow ENHYPEN member Jungwon appeared on Lee Youngji’s “No Prepare” show. During the interview, Jungwon talked about the “tricky” seventh year in idol contracts, referencing advice from Super Junior. He emphasized that he never thought about a solo career because “the team succeeding is him succeeding,” and said he was “nothing” without ENHYPEN.
Jungwon also pointed out that since Lee Youngji is a solo artist, she might not fully understand the group dynamics.
Some fans interpreted Jungwon’s words as a shade aimed at Heeseung, seeing it as proof that Heeseung left on his own.
“This shade is INSANE lmao” — @whoisQeu
“i really don’t like the narrative they’re trying to paint that heesung was the bad guy. yes it should have been done differently but at the end of the day they’re coworkers and i don’t think it’s wrong to prioritise yourself and your own career goals.” — @hkmy23
“heeseung never talk bad about others, never said or did something that might cause hate or misunderstanding. he’s just minding his own business but still get hated. but others being shady towards him not just once always gets free pass.” — @heevanville
“Ladies and Gentlemen,This perfectly sums up the real story of what went down two months ago. The members couldn’t have made it any clearer than this
i’ve just never thought about a solo career, even once.
: the team is the most important. i mean… jungwon without ENHYPEN…” — @fjjz0
As the situation unfolded, many fans defended Jungwon, saying his feelings were personal and not meant to shade Heeseung.
“why are so many weirdos talking about 7×6 fanwars or shading heeseung on the quotes? can’t you all respect the members’ feelings? can’t you “praise” enhypen without shading others even ONCE? jungwon is opening his heart to us, but y’all would rather twist it than shut up, listen…” — @iS2semetery
“jungwon is talking about HIMSELF, don’t twist his words to fit your narratives, what he wants for himself doesn’t imply that heeseung didn’t want to do both. and how could ppl even think that he would shade him? cause i saw a lot of them saying it…” — @bluheenoon
“the way y’all are twisting jungwon’s words to attack heeseung is sick, especially when heeseung himself has always put the group first and made it clear that enhypen comes before his individual desires. whenever heeseung expressed his love for music or did his solo cover…” — @staruntold
“Oh here y’all go turning this into a “gotcha moment” for Heeseung this literally proves nothing. This is jungwon talking about HIMSELF.” — @iwonmatcha
The debate continues as fans weigh in on the split and the members’ comments. Meanwhile, Heeseung remains officially out of ENHYPEN, with no signs of returning.
