ENHYPEN’s Sunoo Faces Backlash Over Heeseung (EVAN), Sparking Fan Outrage

EVAN faces backlash after leaving ENHYPEN, fans rush to defend Sunoo’s vocals

EVAN (formerly Heeseung) shocked fans by withdrawing from ENHYPEN on March 10, sparking backlash and calls for his return. Now, attention has turned to his former group-mate, Sunoo, who is under fire for his live vocals on the high note in ENHYPEN’s song “Moonstruck.”

A clip of Sunoo tackling the demanding high note—originally sung by Heeseung—has been circulating online. Some netizens criticized Sunoo’s live performance, questioning his vocal ability.

“Oh now I get why Engenes went crazy when that heesung guy left cuz wtf is this ” — @_lyneho

“I don’t go here but yeah this sounds horrible do they not have any other vocalist?” — @Letters4aerron

“the double standards in kpop is insane because if this was a gg everyone would be dragging them to filth but since its a hybe bg everyone is just saying ‘he will improve’” — @sohxinyu

“The bar is so low over here” — @ONEANDONLYFOR2

Fans quickly came to Sunoo’s defense, pointing out that the high note is outside his vocal range and praising his courage for performing it live for the first time in concert.

“That highnote is NOT in Sunoo’s vocal range, I bet it hurt his vocal cords. I think after Hee Jay would be the member to come close to Hee’s vocal range. But making the members perform songs that require insane vocal skills after Hee’s departure is just a set up.. I hate Belift” — @movingcastle___

“he will always k1ll this part once he gets comfortable and gain more confidence with his new role in enhypen” — @darkbloodsunoo

“HIGH NOTES AFTER HIGH NOTES KIM SUNOO DELIVERING ALL THESE PARTS PERFECTLY AND LIVE ” — @sunoofullife

“to the people in the qrts, sunoo hitting those high notes in moonstruck for the first time live takes so much courage, like imagine stepping out of your comfort zone in front of everyone and still giving it your all” — @sunsdearest

Meanwhile, Heeseung has started his solo career as EVAN, recently making his first public appearance at a brand event.
