Kim Soo Hyun’s Attorney Reveals Garosero Institute Whistleblower in Kim Sae Ron Dispute
Kim Soo Hyun is suing for billions over his scandal with Kim Sae Ron.
The actor’s side is demanding damages worth hundreds of billions of won from Kim Se Ui, head of Garosero Institute. The case centers around “AI-manipulated audio recordings” that played a key role in the controversy.
Kim Se Ui insists the recordings are real. But the informant who leaked them has now been exposed as unreliable and making wild claims.
On April 28, Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer Ko Sang Rok spoke on MBC radio, calling the whistleblower “not a trustworthy figure.”
“The informant themselves is not a trustworthy figure,” said Ko Sang Rok.
The informant claimed they were attacked by an assassin hired by Kim Soo Hyun and that actor Won Bin personally comforted them afterward.
“Being attacked by an assassin hired by actor Kim Soo Hyun” and “being personally comforted by actor Won Bin after the incident” are among the bizarre claims the informant made, according to Ko.
These conspiracy theories dragged multiple stars into the mess without proof.
More issues came up with the audio files. The informant released several patched-together versions that didn’t make sense when played in full. Plus, they vanished without giving original files to investigators, stopping any verification of manipulation.
Authorities now say it’s very likely AI was used to alter the recordings.
The damage from this scandal is growing. Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer confirmed the initial lawsuit was for ₩12 billion KRW (about $8 million USD). But losses are now recalculated at around ₩30 billion KRW (about $20 million USD).
“We have already filed a lawsuit seeking damages of ₩12.0 billion KRW (about $8.00 million USD) immediately after the incident,” Ko said.
“The recalculated amount of economic loss is significantly higher now.”
“Based on materials submitted to investigative authorities, damages have reached approximately ₩30.0 billion KRW (about $20.0 million USD),”
“We are considering raising the amount of the claim if necessary.”
More legal moves could be coming as this drama develops.
