“KPop Demon Hunters” Actor Reveals How JYP Rejection Impacted His Life

Ahn Hyo Seop opened up about a painful chapter from his trainee days at JYP Entertainment.
Before his acting fame, Ahn Hyo Seop was a JYPE trainee. He got scouted while living in Canada and moved to Korea chasing the idol dream. But things weren’t easy.
The strict trainee life drained his passion for music. He struggled especially with dancing. Eventually, he was cut from the program.
He didn’t hold back on his feelings or the reason why.
Ahn Hyo Seop:
“Of course, I was cut because I wasn’t good enough… But honestly, if I were in their position, I would have eliminated myself too. Singing felt like something I could improve, but I was really bad at dancing. It was the first time I cried and said, ‘Dad, I’m sorry.’ My father trusted me enough to send me, and I felt like I had let him down.”
The rejection crushed him so much that for years he couldn’t even talk about it. He called it a “stain” on his life.
Now, with time, he sees it differently.
Ahn Hyo Seop:
“Looking back, I know it was an incredibly valuable experience. I can talk about it comfortably now.”
