Leading K-Drama Actress’s Home Confiscated Over Tax Arrears

Kim Sa Rang is facing controversy after one of her apartments was seized for unpaid national taxes.
The issue started in April when an apartment owned by Kim Sa Rang in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province was reportedly seized by the Samsung Tax Office. The creditor is listed as the Korean government, with “Head of Samsung Tax Office” named as the enforcing authority.
Soon after the news broke, Kim Sa Rang’s agency Leo International gave a brief statement.

The apartment’s official value earlier this year was about ₩366 million KRW (roughly $245,000 USD). Its current market price is closer to ₩600 million KRW (around $402,000 USD). Another apartment Kim owns in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam does not appear to have any seizure records.
Authorities may have decided that recovering the unpaid taxes from this single Gimpo property is enough. The Samsung Tax Office declined to specify the amount or reason, citing protection of personal information.
Under Korean law, seizing real estate over unpaid taxes is done based on official public property values, not market prices. If taxes remain unpaid, the property could face public auction. The seizure could be lifted if Kim pays off the owed taxes.
